Calcium hardness should be maintained between 175-225 PPM. Using Ahh-some Watercare Hardness Control helps regulate these levels. If the calcium hardness is too low, metal corrosion within the system will increase and cleaning will become more difficult. If the level is too high, scale formation on surfaces will increase, potentially forming in heater pipes and other circulating parts. This can also lead to surface discoloration.

I’ve got super soft water with a total home softening system. While by-passing the softener when filling the tub completely, adding water to keep the tub at optimum level requires a little help to harden. This seems to work well in achieving the level of hardness needed.
